Olympique Lyonnais and their head coach Laurent Blanc haven’t heard from Chelsea loanee Malo Gusto (19) for a while now, according to a report from Le Progrès.
The French international U21 has signed a six-year deal with the West London side, joining for a €40m fee. However, Lyon negotiated a loan for their prized asset, meaning Gusto was supposed to end the season with Les Gones before embarking on his new journey with the Blues.
A month ago on February 8, Gusto came off injured during Lyon’s Coupe de France last 16 tie win against Lille, and he hasn’t featured since for Lyon, despite Blanc downplaying the seriousness of his injury, speaking of “a discomfort that needed care“.
But Chelsea took steps to ensure the player received said care in London rather than in Lyon. On February 13, Gusto flew to the English capital to follow treatment at Chelsea’s medical wing. Since, Lyon and Blanc have received the bare minimum of information regarding the fitness of Gusto. The 19-year-old was at Stamford Bridge yesterday to cheer on Graham Potters side as they booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals over Dortmund.
However, Blanc would like to know if he will be able to rely on Gusto before the international break window opens (from March 20 to 30), as he wants to field him for the season-defining Coupe de France semi-final in Nantes, on April 5.
