Murphy's vaccination order doesn't extend to lawmakers. Who's annoyed by that? | Video - NJ Spotlight

When Gov. Phil Murphy issued his executive order mandating schools staff be vaccinated, he added that the order extended to state employees. But according to the governor’s office, the order does not extend to lawmakers. Apparently the Legislature — as a co-equal branch of government — may not be compelled to follow any of the governor’s executive orders pertaining to employees.

A thoroughly unscientific poll suggests that not only do some people think the order should apply to lawmakers, they have strong opinions about it.

Some lawmakers agree. “I’ve long been a proponent of if we’re going to put mandates on people we represent, if we’re going to put mandates on our employees, we need to step up to the plate and do the same things to ourselves,” said Sen. Holly Schepisi (R-Bergen).
