A RUSSIAN actress has been filmed being dragged off a plane by police after an alleged brawl during which she labelled her fellow passengers “plebs”.

Lidiya Velezheva, 53, is reported to have begun swearing at fellow passengers and crew after a delay to the flight.

The actress and TV presenter was scheduled to fly from Moscow to Tel Aviv with airline Aeroflot to appear in a play.

The plane had been delayed for two hours due to technical difficulties, and Velezheva became agitated after having been held on an airport bus for 20 minutes without a coat.

The Mash news outlet reported that Velezheva told fellow passengers: “I am an actress and you are plebs because most likely you bought your ticket for miles.

"I got mine for 204,000 roubles (£2,475) in cash."

Footage showed her being escorted from the plane by Russian police and then marched across the tarmac and bundled into a van.

Police are also seen ushering away another passenger singing Hare Krishna to “cast out demons”.

The Boeing 777 later left for Israel without Velezheva on board.

Velezheva has been an actress since the late 1980s.

She has featured in a host of Russian language films and TV series, including Idiot (2003) and August Eighth (2012).

She lives in Moscow and is married to fellow actor Alexey Guskov, with whom she has two grown-up sons.

In 2010, she was made an Honoured Artist of Russia, an honorary title awarded to citizens of Russia for contributions to the performing arts.

She is known as a supporter of Vladimir Putin's ruling United Russia party.

She also currently sits on the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, a 166-member civic body set up in 2005 to oversee the activities of parliament, government, and other public bodies.

Guskov said later that his wife had been “sobbing” after missing the plane.

He refuted claims made by other passengers that Velezheva had been drunk during the brawl, saying she had taken a sleeping pill before boarding the flight.

He said he was attempting to arrange another flight to take her to Israel.
